New Pledge

I read this “New Pledge of Allegiance” today.  My comments are in red.
BY A 15 yr. OLD SCHOOL KID who got an A+ for this~
Since the Pledge of Allegiance And The Lord’s Prayer
Are not allowed in most Public schools anymore
Because the word ‘God’ is mentioned…..
A kid in Arizona wrote:

“New Pledge of Allegiance”~
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
(Praying is not against the rule!  You can silently pray to whichever god you would like all day long, every day if you’d like.  You just can’t force a religious prayer on your classmates just because you believe in it.  But please pray all you want, silently)
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
(America wasn’t ‘under God’ until 1954! And I hardly believe that the “mention of Him” is odd when 92% of Americans still believe in God (maybe not all in the Christian God like you want but a God).
If scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

(Ummmm….really?  You can’t bow your head over your lunch?  You can’t quote scripture in an essay you write for school? Really?)Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That’s no offence, it’s a freedom scene..

(Hair color does not force a belief system on anyone so not sure how this relates at all)
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

(As they should be.  You have the right to believe what you will but it should not be your right to have a christian prayer to lead a sports game or graduation.  Your belief in a christian god is not more important than my belief in no god)  For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all..
(Or someone of a different faith.  Possibly a Muslim, a Hindu, a Buddhist.  Or shall we have them say their prayers aloud and ask you to accept it and not take offense?!?  These laws are in place to protect your freedom of religion as well.)
In silence alone we must meditate,
God’s name is prohibited by the State.

(Except when you are sworn in on a Bible in the courtroom or when you spend your “In God We Trust” money or when you
state the pledge)

We’re allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks…

(And you are also allowed to wear you religious shirts (WWJD, NOTW, Real Men Love Jesus, etc.  And I highly doubt that cussing in school is smiled upon.)
They’ve outlawed guns but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

(You’ve been talking about the Bible and prayer and God in this class project and it only made you liable for an A+)
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the ‘unwed daddy,’ our Senior King.

(Or we could just condemn them and make sure they know their real place in a christian society.)
It’s ‘inappropriate’ to teach right from wrong,
We’re taught that such ‘judgments’ do not belong.

(Examples please!  Are you referring to your belief that sex before marriage is a sin?  Being gay is a sin?  Swearing is a sin?  And you want the right to publicly pray all those sins out of your peers, right?)
We can get our condoms and birth controls,

(Because your parents are too blind to believe that their christian kids are in need of them too!  Reality is christian teens are having as much sex as their non-religious peers.  Check the polls)
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles..
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It’s scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school’s a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; (Earlier you stated guns have been outlawed so I think you’re probably safe)

My soul please take!

Congratulations on an A+ for this piece.  Your parents must be so proud that you are willing to be a voice on the persecution christians in this country are facing.  Now do a little research and maybe you’ll discover who’s really doing the persecuting.
